It’s no secret that I love smaller weddings. And Ruth + Tim’s traditional but intimate Knutsford Wedding is a prime example of why!
After meeting Tim + Ruth for the first time, I was so excited to photograph this beautiful couple – and I didn’t have too long to wait!
This wedding had such a humbling, warm feeling about it… everything had it’s own personal touch, but nothing was over the top. The decoration throughout the Church and Church Hall was simple, fresh and traditional, with an extra element of pretty.
I can’t describe how captivating they were to watch together. It was a really genuine, innocent kind of love. They just fit. And although I was only capturing a small part of their wedding day, I found myself immersed in their love story from beginning to end. It was a wedding clearly about their love for each other, and nothing else.
Their Knutsford Wedding was set on the outskirts of the main town, in a village called Marthall, and it was a typically perfect spring day.
As blue skies and daffodils set the scene, guests were able to enjoy the short 100yard stroll from the reception hall to the Church, to join Tim in anticipation for the arrival of his bride. The candles inside were being lit as bridesmaids and flower girls soon pulled up, followed by Ruth and her brother, who was ready to walk his beautiful sister down the aisle.
There were to be no photographs during the ceremony, so all I could do was listen, which was a real rarity and privilege. The church choir echoed with harmonies that would give anyone goosebumps, and it was an honour to witness Tim + Ruth become Husband and Wife. After the ceremony, the newly weds were whisked away for a romantic drive through the Cheshire countryside (after having a giggle at Tim removing Ruth’s shoe labels :P) Meanwhile, their guests walked back to the reception Hall at Marthall.
We had just enough time for a few photographs, before everyone gathered in the adjoining marquee to toast to the newly married couple. The speeches were filled with loving glances, belly aching laughs and a few bear hugs too!
With their close family and friends about to be seated to enjoy the wedding breakfast, this is where I said my goodbyes and left Ruth and Tim to enjoy the rest of their day.
Everything about this wedding day was so special, and it was a real joy to photograph – I hope you enjoy looking through some of my favourites! <3
