Gingerbread Mug Toppers – Christmas 2016

It’s that magical time of year again… CHRISTMAS IS HERE!

On an excitement scale of 1 – 10, I’m at a constant level of about 152 on the lead up to Christmas. Don’t believe me? Just ask my Husband…

So with just 3 days to go (eeeek!) it’s about now when I tend to resign myself to the kitchen for a day. Filling the house with delicious Christmassy smells, and making festive treats to bring to family + friends over the holiday season. It has become a bit of a tradition, for me to bring home-baked goodies to family at Christmas. One year, I made an entire gingerbread train! Each family member had their own personalised carriage filled with sweets + chocolate. To this day, I don’t think I’ll top that one!

There is something really rewarding about giving the people you love, something you have made. Cooking or baking for loved ones and close friends is what I really enjoy doing at any given opportunity. (I’ve definitely inherited that from my Mum). So if I ever make you food – it’s a tell tale sign that I like you! :)

This year, I’ve gone back to the classic, gingerbread. I saw these teeny tiny little houses that sit perfectly on top of your favourite Christmas mug and I couldn’t resist giving them a go. Mainly because they are so cute!

Safe to say, that I’m pretty happy with the way they’ve turned out. They were really easy to make, but my favourite part was definitely the assembling and decorating. I kept mine quite simple, but you could do all sorts! They keep for 2-3 weeks, but I don’t think they are going to last that long…

Anywho, here’s some photograph’s of the making process – I had a LOT of fun. And taste testing is also a critical part of the job… so there was that bonus too!

Merry Christmas to you all, and I wish you all a fantastic new year. See you in 2017! <3
