‘We aren’t having a traditional wedding breakfast, we are going for a bright and colourful Afternoon Tea Wedding, with outdoor Games, a VW camper, sunflowers, lots of cake, shire horses…’
The first time I met Colleen to discuss her and Andy’s wedding plans, it’s safe to say I probably had to pick my jaw up from off the floor. Everything she was describing sounded like OH so much fun! And the more I learnt of their plans, the more excited I got at the prospect of photographing their incredible day!
So yes, when the email landed in my inbox to say ‘We would love to book you for our wedding day!’ I was genuinely jumping for joy!
After their engagement shoot earlier this year, it was clear to see just how in love these two lovely people really are. With their medical professions, any time they spend together is so precious! Challenging any couple to be working opposite shifts whilst planning their wedding sounds like a recipe for disaster. But not only did Colleen + Andy make it work, they went above and beyond to make it extraordinary.
No amount of drizzle was going to put a dampener on their wedding day. Nope. That was simply not an option. Umbrella’s at the ready, Colleen and the girls set off to the church in style (of course!) Whilst Andy finished his cheeky drink at the local pub! Sure enough, as soon as they emerged from the Church as Husband and Wife, the rain disappeared, and was replaced by the most INSANE AMOUNT OF CONFETTI I’ve ever seen!
It was clear that above all else, both Colleen + Andy wanted their family and friends to have an amazing time as guests at their wedding. There was no doubt about that! Who wouldn’t have fun at an afternoon tea wedding with ENDLESS amounts of scrumptious cakes, surrounded by every colour in the rainbow in a beautiful marquee, with outdoor games, (including very intense tug-of-war) live music, and a choice of pizza or fish + chips in the evening?!
Their wedding day was a true reflection of them as a couple. Down to every last intricate detail. But also because of their down to earth, laid back and incredibly kind nature. And as a result, the love, warmth and adoration from all of their wonderful guests, was radiating from their marquee.
